Tax compliance levels expected to rise from 60 to 90 percent in 2018-Mutati

National Development Planning minister Alexander Chiteme says the country has a total of  2450 developmental projects.

Mr. Chiteme says government will not implement any new projects until impending ones are completed.

Mr. Chiteme has however stated that most donor funded projects have remained dismal due to a number of challenges.  

Speaking during the  Government and Cooperating Partners Group (CPG) meeting on the 2017 Economic Performance and 2018 Outlook, the newly appointed minister has indicated that delays in project approval, delays in the recruitment of project personnel and lack of sufficient financing on some projects among many others.

And Speaking earlier finance minister Felix Mutati says government will this year modernize and renew tax policies focusing on improving tax morality.

He says this will further reduce revenue leakages , issues of fraud  and smuggling.

The minister has further indicated government wants to enhance  tax compliance levels  from below 60 percent in 2017 to 80 percent in 2018.
  
The minister says all these measures  will boost the   county's domestic resource mobilization
