Lusaka Mayor Wilson
Kalumba has died, Lusaka town clerk Alex Mwansa has confirmed.
Mr. Mwansa has Mutola Nkani
News that the mayor died this morning around 11:20 at the University Teaching
Hospital.
He says it is not yet
clear what has caused the mayor's demise but states that the he was suffering
from Kidney failure.
He has
since stated that minister of local government Vincent Mwale is yet to
issue a comprehensive statement on the matter.
Meanwhile Luanshya mayor
Nathan Chanda has described the mayors death as regrettable.
Mr. Chanda says Mr.
Kalumba's death is a major setback in the ruling patriotic Front (PF).
He says he
received information about the mayors demise with shock.
