NIPA,Hone students freed!

Police in Lusaka have released 123  of the 126 Evelyn Hone Students who were arrested on Wednesday on 21st March, for illegal protests.

The students have  been released  after paying Admission of Guilt.

And Police spokesperson Ester Katongo has also disclosed that 59 of the 207 students who were arrested are students from the National Institute of Public Administration   NIPA.

Mrs. .Katongo says All NIPA students have since been  released unconditionally after claiming  to  have been caught up in the confusion after Students from Evelyn Hone pulled down the wall fence which demarcates the two institutions .

She is hopeful that Many more students are yet to be released today.

And elsewhere in Lusaka, a mob in Bauleni compound  looted two shops and set ablaze a motor vehicle, Mitsubishi RVR registration number ABE 2270 blue in color, property of a 48 year old male Adult also of Bauleni Compound.

Police spokesperson Ester Katongo tells Q News that the incident happened yesterday around 19 :00 hours when the driver of the motor vehicle spotted some children jumping and clinging to his moving motor vehicle.

The driver then stopped and begun chasing the children , when some members the public saw this and  accused him of being a ritual murderer.

Attempts by the driver to explain what had transpired failed, as the mob descended on him  before he was rescued by some members of the public who surrendered him to Police.

She says the unruly crowd later looted shops whose  value of stolen goods is yet to be established.
She says police have since  apprehended one suspect identified as Solomon Zulu believed to be the master minder for the looting and is detained in Police custody.

Investigations have continued while the driver who is the victim was taken for medical attention.
Mrs. Katongo has since  appealed  to members of the public to desist from raising false alarms and taking the law in their own hand as this is illegal and has potential to put lives of innocent people at risk.
