The Ministry of defense says it will not give a
specific date when defense personnel will be withdrawn from the Central
Business District.
Ministry's
permanent secretary Stardy Mwale says that
can only be done when the cholera epidemic is completely eradicated and
the CBD is thoroughly clean .
And Mr. Mwale has warned of stern action against military personnel alleged to be harassing civilians .
The permanent secretary says defense forces are expected
to discharge their cleaning exercise amid the cholera epidemic, in a more professional
manner.
He has told
journalists in Lusaka that the ministry will
not condone any form of harassment of civilians by the military.
Mr. Mwale has
since urged members of the public who feel injured by actions of the defense
personnel to go forth and present necessary evidence for the commencement of disciplinary procedures against perpetrators.
